LOGLINE
When a Gaylien from the Planet Homo accidentally lands in a conservative American suburb, his world domination begins by opening the minds - and legs - of all those around him.
WHY NOW
The exceptionally well-received three runs of “Homo The Musical!” shows the potential for Homo the film to have a clear path to cult status. Audiences loved the show so much that they came back again and again singing along with the catchy rock songs. Everyone laughed together and sang at the ridiculousness of homophobia, gentrification, and Gay Guns turning people into happy, horny Homosexuals.
With the current assault on LGBTQI+ rights in this country, now is a perfect time for a Big Queer Musical and a TOTAL Gaylien takeover. Although HOMO THE MUSICAL is high camp, the underlying themes of equality and self-realization is the beating heart of the film. There is no justice in the closet. We must fight for our rights and comedy is a great tool to change minds and help foster equality.
DIRECTOR’s STATEMENT
I have been obsessed with cult films since seeing “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at the age of seven. Growing up in a homophobic place with a homophobic family meant that I had to find my people elsewhere. Cult films and specifically Rocky Horror gave me a sense of belonging. A sense that there were other people like me and that I could have a fulfilling life being queer and in between genders. Sure that representation was a bi-alien with a murderous impulse but...Frankenfurter is still a charming hero.My life’s mission is to make films that bring this same sense of belonging to other people. like John Waters, Kenneth Anger and other queer filmmakers before me, my work roots for the underdog, through humor, camp and heavy metal sing-a- longs i believe whole heartedly that homo the musical can bring that to generations to come. one head banging, high kicking, spandex laden sexy spectacle at a time.
