Synopsis
Conserving Women is a field-based comedy show hosted by Sally May Mae Clark, a conservative-leaning, naive Southern woman who is on a mission to better understand the concept of “reproductive freedom” and how she personally can “do the right thing.” Created by alumni of The Daily Show and Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, this satirical character-driven documentary seeks to shine light on the urgent issue of reproductive rights in a comedic way. Through interviews and woman-on-the-street segments, we hear from powerful political players, activists, and everyday people, and through Sally’s wide-eyed “Bless her Heart” perspective, we get a snapshot of the current absurdity of women and pregnant people’s rights in America. Elizabeth Zephyrine – Creator / Star
Elizabeth Zephyrine, aka “Zeph,” is an award winning actress, director, writer, and comedian who has appeared on The Daily Show, where she also directed and wrote on multiple Emmy winning seasons. Other late night credits include Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, The Rundown With Robin Thede, and The Reductress Hour for Comedy Central. Zeph has written, directed, and starred in countless comedic shorts for The New Yorker, where she has also contributed humor essays and appeared as an on-camera correspondent. Her unique brand of offbeat humor has resonated with audiences worldwide and her work has been featured in Vulture, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and The Guardian, where she was listed as one of “the funniest things on the Internet.” With a background in improv, clown, and documentary filmmaking, she is uniquely poised to lead this exciting new show. www.elizabethzephyrine.com
